A graffiti workshop was organised with Dave Jeal, a lecturer from Blackburn College, over a 4 week period for 11+ in March and was attended by nearly 30 over 11s.
The artwork was done on a large canvas using various art techniques and mediums. Each participant took a black and white photo of themselves which was transferred using a silouette style to the canvas. The final artwork has been placed on to the back of the DJ booth.
Graffiti and vandalism was tackled via a short video, and the infamous Banksey was also discussed. The workshop met its goals to promote development of artistic skills in young people and go some way to address illegal tagging and graffiti.
The workshop was funded by VYNet (Voluntary Youth Network) with a grant of £200.
